The Aesthetic

High-Fashion Portraits. Editorial Stories. Chicago Soul.

I’m Skyye—photographer, creative director, and founder of The Aesthetic. I make images that feel intimate, cinematic, and intentional—where fashion meets fine art and people feel seen.

Origin

Why I shoot

I picked up my father’s camera after he passed—and never put it down. What began as a way to process grief became a way to honor people: their edges, their elegance, their quiet storms. The Aesthetic grew from that promise—to photograph with care, to direct with empathy, and to craft images that outlive the moment.

Today I work across fashion editorials, beauty, branding, and headshots—guided by precision lighting, clean direction, and a deep respect for the human in front of the lens.

Studio located in Chicago; on-location productions available.

Approach

Direction that reads. Light that flatters. Stories that travel.

I design each session like a mini production—mood, palette, body language, and light. Expression coaching and micro-movement help the frame read clearly: hands, jawline, posture, breath. The goal is simple—photographs that feel inevitable.

  • Pre-production: concept, references, wardrobe notes
  • Lighting: beauty, editorial, or cinematic setups
  • Clear posing direction & expression coaching
  • Magazine-level retouch with skin fidelity

Highlights

  • Published: GMARO, Malvie, Eclaire, Mouvier, Style Cruz
  • Curator: Code Red: The Installation (AIDS Foundation of Chicago)
  • Upcoming: Sony World Photography Awards (Portrait)
